State lotteries enjoy widespread support from various constituencies including convenience store operators (who typically serve as the lotteries\u2019 primary vendors); lottery suppliers (whose heavy contributions to state political campaigns are regularly reported); teachers (in those states where lottery proceeds are earmarked for education); and state legislators (who quickly become accustomed to the extra revenue).
