Poker is a game played with cards. Players use their five cards to make a hand that will beat the other players’ hands. The winning hand will take the pot.<\/p>\n
Poker may be played with any number of players. An ideal number is six to eight. Each player must have a set amount of chips. These chips are usually green or red.<\/p>\n
To begin the game, the dealer deals a deck of cards one at a time. They are dealt clockwise around the table.<\/p>\n
The turn to deal is then passed from player to player. Once the cards have been dealt, the next player can then bet or fold.<\/p>\n
After the betting round, a showdown occurs. When all of the cards have been revealed, the player with the best hand takes the pot. If no other player calls, the hand is won.<\/p>\n
If there is a tie between identical poker hands, the highest unmatched card will break the tie. For example, a pair of aces will beat a straight flush.<\/p>\n
There are four basic types of poker: stud, draw, community card and straight. Each type has a particular way of dealing the cards.<\/p>\n
In stud poker, the limit is often twice as high as in draw poker. This allows the player to have more chips and receive replacement cards from the undealt portion of the deck.<\/p>\n
